MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University head women's basketball coach
Mark Graupe announced the hiring of Karen Senette as assistant women's basketball coach, the program announced Friday.
Senette joins Minot State after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Lewis University. She was responsible for guard development, scheduling and team travel as well as assisted in scouting and recruiting at Lewis.
"I could not be more thrilled to be a part of the Minot State University women's basketball program," Senette said. "I look forward to working with coach Graupe and the young women we have on the team."
A former two-time captain at Elmhurst College, Senette earned All-CCIW Third Team honors twice as a member of the women's basketball team. She graduated from Elmhurst in 2014 with a degree in psychology. Along with all conference, she earned the team's Blue Jay Award in 2012 and her team's Most Valuable Player Award following a 10.2 points and 3.7 assists per game average in 2014.
"Coach Senette assisted at one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation," said Graupe. "We had a lot of applicants for the top assistant position and many came highly recommended, but Karen stuck out to me. She had high praise from her former coaches as well as a strong work ethic, passion and enthusiasm to hit the recruiting trail. We are excited she is a Beaver."
She started her coaching career as an assistant at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., and served as an assistant coach for the Illinois Lady Lightning AAU program in Wheaton, Ill. Senette has also been involved in multiple camps such as the Doug Bruno Basketball Camp, Northwest Basketball Camp and the Judson University Summer Basketball Camp.
