In Sunday's wrestling dual against the UMary Marauders, Joey Lopez was the key contributor to turning the momentum towards the Beavers and extending the Minot State lead. 

Minot State held on to defeat UMary 19-16 in an entertaining affair.

In the 174-pound match, Lopez was trailing UMary's Austin Eichmann 12-0 after a lopsided first period. Late in the second period, though, Lopez took a quick shot and scored via takedown before pinning Eichmann and taking the victory by fall.

Lopez' pin was the only pin of the night between the two teams and added to an already electric environment.

This is the first time Lopez has been named Minot State Athlete of the Week.
