Tanner Gust

Tanner Gust is entering his first year as a Track and Field Coach after serving for the past two seasons as a graduate assistant. 

Gust graduated from Minot State with a degree in Marketing and Management.

In 2019, Tanner coached the MSU Track and Field and Cross Country programs to new heights of success. He coached Logan Krueger to an 8th-place finish in the shot put at the NSIC Championships. Gust has coached 32 Division II-era top performances in the throws events and five DII-era school record holders. 

As an athlete with the MSU Track and Field program, he took the podium twice (4th and 7th place) in the hammer throw at the NSIC Outdoor Championships. Additionally, he broke the school record in that event on four different occasions, qualified for the NCAA Division-II Outdoor Championships, and was an Academic All-American.

While coaching at Minot State, Gust coached Ben Aasen to his All-Conference performance (3rd place) at the 2019 NSIC championships. Additionally, he assisted Derek Wax to a podium finish (6th place) at the 2019 NSIC championships. In 2019, he coached Taylor Laumeyer, the first female outdoor conference champion in Division-II school history. She also placed 5th in discus and won the javelin competition at the 2019 NSIC Championships. Laumeyer also threw a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Outdoor Division-II championships in javelin, and a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Outdoor Division-II championships in discus. With her javelin title, she was also named All-Conference in the NSIC.

Gust earned his Master's in Business at Minot State University at the end of the 2020 academic year.
