MSU gets back on track

Beavers get win, shutout over Sioux Falls

Minot State women's soccer team celebrates a goal earlier in the season against Bemidji State. MSU defeated Sioux Falls 1-0 on Wednesday on the road.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minot State University women's soccer got both back to winning ways and back to shutout soccer as  the Beavers blanked the University of Sioux Falls 1-0 in nonconference play here Wednesday.
Marianna Danna (Jr., D, Sutter, Calif.) scored the Beavers game winner on a header after a solid corner kick by Taylor Carlstrom (Fr., Mid, Portland, Ore.). MSU outshot Sioux Falls 15-5 on their way to the win.
“We played very well, defended well and scratched out a tough victory,” said MSU head coach Jason Spain. “It was a nice header by Mary to win it.”
The Beavers got their first shutout since an 8-0 win over Jamestown College Sept. 21. MSU opened the season with five-straight scores less games and three shutout wins.
Goalkeeper Holly Chrisope (Sr., Chico, Calif.) picked up the win and the shutout – her second third of the season – with five saves.
The Beavers move to 7-4-3 with the win. MSU continues a four-game road trip with a match at St. Cloud State Sunday at 1 p.m.
