ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Minot State University scored early in the second half, but couldn't hold on as NCAA Division II St. Cloud State rallied for two goals to defeat the Beavers 2-1 in nonconference women's soccer Sunday.
The Beavers Lexi Kidd (Jr., Mid, Sutter, Calif.) netted a goal in the second minute of the second half to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. It was Kidd's third on goal on the season.
But the Huskies tied the match at one with a Alexandra Pafko goal in the 70th minute and Pafko struck again with just over five minutes to play in the second half for the game winner.
MSU outshot SCSU 13-12 and forced the Huskies goalkeeper tandem of Kenzie Hanzlik and Molly Bender to make five saves in the first half.
Kidd finished with three shots, two shots on goal and the lone tally for MSU. Ashley Goheen (Sr., Mid, Manteca, Calif.), Shannon Walsh (So., Mid, Minot, N.D.) and Melissa Grant (Sr., D, Chico, Calif.) all finished with two shots. MSU had a 9-7 edge in corner kicks as well.
MSU's goalie Holly Chrisope (Sr., Chico, Calif.) finished with two saves on four shots on goal.
The Beavers (7-5-3) continue on the road against NCAA opponents as they travel to Bemidji State Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
