MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University soccer failed to generate much offensive push and surrendered two second-half goals as the University of Mary blanked MSU 2-0 in NCAA women's soccer Wednesday at Herb Parker Stadium.

The Beavers and Marauders were tied at halftime as MSU had the better of the play, outshooting UMary 6-3. But many of the Beavers shots in the first half were from distance and the Beavers did not fully pressure Marauders' goalkeeper Ashley Akers, who made all five saves she needed to for the shut out.

While both teams were physical in the midfield, the Marauders (5-2, 2-0 Northern Sun) began to generate offense in the second half. Jamie Krediet opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a solid strike low and away from MSU's goalie Ashley Barcewski (Jr., O'Fallon, Mo.) giving UM a 1-0 lead. Krediet found open space after Kimberly Hutchison made a solid turn just outside the top of the box.

Michelle Jones gave the Marauders some insurance as she took a feed from Alex Bachman-Williams and drove it home in the 72nd minute.

The Beavers (3-3, 0-0) made a late push that resulted in a couple good scoring chances, but couldn't solve Akers. MSU has been shut out in back-to-back matches.

Shannon Walsh
(Jr., Mid, Minot, N.D.) and Jamie Council (So., F, Atascadero, Calif.) finished with multiple shots for MSU as Walsh had a match-high three and Council finished with two.

Minot State is back on the field Friday as the Beavers take on Augustana College at 5:30 p.m. at Herb Parker Stadium.
