ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Minot State wrestling knew they had their work cut out for them as they traveled to take on #3 St. Cloud State University on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies (3-0 overall 1-0 NSIC) used a quick start to take control of the Beavers (1-2 overall 0-2 NSIC) on their way to a 49-0 win in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestling.

After forfeiting at 125 pounds, MISU's Joshua Douglas (So., 125, Kissimmee, Fla.) competed hard, but just didn't have enough to defeat SCSU's Jared Kust. Douglas fell by a 7-3 decision.

That ended up being the closest match of the afternoon, as St. Cloud showed why they have won 28 straight duals.

“We were missing three starters due to injuries and having to juggle the lineup really hurts,” said MISU head coach Robin Ersland. “As a program, we aren't as deep as we need to be. We just need to keep searching for guys who are willing to dedicate themselves to building this program.

“We just didn't have a good day today. They're pretty good, but that much better than us to beat us 49-0.”

Minot State will use the holiday break to regroup before heading south to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Grand Canyon University duals on January 5. The Beavers will return to NSIC action on January 19 as they will travel to Mankato, Minn. to take on #9 Minnesota State University.
