Box Score FAYETTE, Iowa – Minot State University women's soccer yielded a goal in the first 10 minutes of the match and could not get the equalizer, falling at Upper Iowa 1-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Saturday at Pettison Field.
UIU's Kali Loescher scored at 9:57 of the first half for the lone score in the game. She took a pass from Kelsey Taldone from the left and scored past MISU's goalkeeper
Marie Torres (Sr., San Bruno, Calif.) on the left side.
The Beavers (4-2-1 overall, 2-2 NSIC) tried to get back into the game with 11 shots, paced by seven from
Zoe Fisher (So., CM, Cambridgeshire, England), and four second-half corner kicks but couldn't get one past the Peacock's Amanda Smith.
UIU's Corrine Wronski finished with three shots, while Taldone and Loescher had two shots on goal each.
Torres was the tough-luck loser giving up just the one goal while making five saves. She falls to 4-2 overall.
Smith finished with five saves to improve to 6-1 on the season.
Minot State moves from one top-tier NSIC team to another for a Sunday afternoon tilt with Winona State beginning at 1 p.m.
