Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – Minot State University women's soccer gave up a second-half goal and then an overtime tally as Bemidji State rallied for a 2-1 win in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Sunday.
It was the seventh overtime match for the Beavers this year and Minot State fell to 1-3-3 in overtime games. The loss also snapped the MISU Beavers' four-match unbeaten streak.
Things looked to be going well for Minot State ( 5-7-3 overall, 5-6-2 NSIC) as freshman
Chloe Melton (F, Fleet, England) netted her fourth goal of the season unassisted in the 12th minute.
That lead held for nearly 64 minutes before Bemidji State (11-5-0, 8-4-0) tied the match on a Christine Szurek goal from a free kick set.
Neither team could muster another during regulation. BSU, however, broke the tie and earned the win as Jessie Voeller took a pass from Mary O'Brien and deposited it in the net. O'Brien assisted on both goals in the match for BSU.
Minot State's
Gemma Biasetto (So., GK, Albuquerque, N.M.) finished with six saves in the loss, while Sonja Barr stopped nine MISU shots in the win. Minot State held a 23-17 lead in shots and had a 16-6 lead in the second half.
Minot State has two matches remaining, playing at home on Friday at 1 p.m. against Northern State before finishing the regular season at Minnesota State-Moorhead Sunday at 1 p.m. MISU and Northern State are separated by a single point for the eighth and final spot in the NSIC playoffs.
