PUEBLO, Colo.– Minot State women's outdoor track & field's
Abbey Aide (Jr., Pole Vault, Bottineau, N.D.) competed in her first and program's first NCAA Division II Championships Thursday afternoon.
Aide finished No. 15 in all of NCAA Division II in the women's pole vault, as she cleared a height of 12 feet 1.5 inches at Colorado State University at Pueblo. However, Aide could not clear her second height of 12 feet 5.5 inches which officially ended her season.
“I'm disappointed that I didn't make 12 feet 5 inches,” said Aide. “It's not how I wanted this to end, but it was a great experience being here. I feel so privileged to be able to compete with these girls; they are really unbelievable athletes.”
Katie Nageotte of Ashland University won the Division II Championship in the women's pole vault with a cleared height of 14 feet 5.25 inches.
In 2013, Aide broke her own school record in the pole vault twice. The record now stands at 12 feet 6.25 inches.
“It was a great year for me,” said Aide. “And I wouldn't trade it for anything.”
