MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State University women's soccer team dropped their second game of the weekend Sunday afternoon when the Beavers fell to the Peacocks of Upper Iowa 2-1.
Taylor Bachman-Williams (Sr., D, Minot, N.D.) struck first in the match for the Beavers in the 31st minute of play. Bachman-Williams cleaned up a rebound inside the goal area to record her 3rd goal of the season. The senior defender leads the Beavers in the goals category.
Minot State finished the half with a 1-0 lead despite being outshot 11-4 in the first half.
Upper Iowa came out strong in the second half though, and found a couple of goals to power them to victory.
Aimee Wrongski found the back of the net in the 58th minute when she headed a ball past
Celene Johnson (Jr., GK, Rocklin, Calif.). Morgan Springborn tacked on the game winner for the Peacocks in the 67th minute as she chipped the ball over Johnson.
Chloe Melton (So., F, Fleet, England) and
Kristin Long (Jr., M, Mesa, Ariz.) each had shots for the Beavers in the loss. Johnson recorded eight saves in goal for Minot State.
The loss takes Minot State's record to 4-4-2, 3-3-1 in the Northern Sun. Upper Iowa improves to 5-4 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC.
The Beavers are back at home this upcoming weekend and they'll welcome in the No. 2 team in the country, Minnesota State, at 11 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 11.
