MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minot State wrestling competed hard Thursday night as they went toe-to-toe with a tough Minnesota State University Moorhead team.

The Beavers (1-12 Overall, 0-6 NSIC) were able to win four bouts but were undone by their four losses by fall to the Dragons (6-8 Overall, 3-3 NSIC), including three late in bouts.

"We let that one get away from us," said Minot State head coach Robin Ersland. "It was a winnable match. A few calls here and a few mistakes late in matches really hurt us tonight."

After falling behind 12-0 to start the match, Jon Wilson (Jr., 149, Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ricard Avakovs (So., 157, Riga, Latvia) picked up back-to-back one point victories to pull MISU within six points. But it was then that the pins by the Dragons haunted Minot State.

Donovan Williams (Sr., 165, Greater Islap, N.Y.) and Tiger Paasch (Fr., 174, McMinnville, Ore.) were each pinned during the third period of their bouts, allowing MSU Moorhead to stretch their lead to 24-6.

Matt Fetterley (Sr., 174/184, Muskegon, Mich.) and Mitchell Eull (Fr., 197, Buffalo, Minn.) each picked up impressive wins at their respective weight classes towards the end of the dual. Fetterley's opponent, Matthew Lewellen entered tonight's dual with a 22-9 overall record.

"Fetterley looked good at 184 tonight," said Ersland. "The guy he took done was legitimate. Mitch also has a nice win over a guy who has beaten us twice earlier."

Minot State will look to rebound and pick up their first ever Northern Sun dual win as they travel to Bismarck, N.D. to take on University of Mary Friday Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
