LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Minot State University softball quickly rebounded from its first loss of the season to top Azusa Pacific to split a pair of games on day 2 of the Montana State-Billings Desert Stinger Saturday at Majestic Park.
Minot State fell behind 3-1 after three innings, but scored four in the fourth inning and another in the sixth to earn a 6-4 win.

Mindy Lorimor (Sr., P, Thurman, Iowa) ran her record to 2-0 on the season with a complete game, eight-hitter. She struck out four batters and walked just one while giving up four runs in the game.
Sarah Nicks (So., C, Grossmont, Calif.) tied the game in the fourth with a two-run home run and scored on a single by
Leyna Downey (Sr., OF/P, Missoula, Mont.) after
Jenn Spencer (P, So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) doubled. Downey, Nicks,
Jordan Grant (So., CF, Adelnato, Calif.) and
Rachel Burdette (So., UTL, Temecula, Calif.) all drove in runs. Burdette had two hits including a solo home run to left center in the sixth for an insurance run.
Downey, Burdette and Nicks had two hits apiece, while Spencer scored two runs in the win for the Beavers.
Minot State moved to 3-1 in the tournament with a single game Sunday remaining to open the season.
