WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Minot State University soccer team (2-1) could not pull of the road upset they were looking for at No. 8 Central Missouri, losing 1-0in the Beavers final nonconference tuneup.
The Beavers weren't able to get on the scoreboard during the game, but MSU contintued to play solid defense to start the season.
"You feel frustrated you let one get away, but we feel good about where we are at and where we're going," MSU head coach
Jason Spain said. "If we can convert our chances, we have a team that can make a run. We're that good defensively. We held a really good (Central Missouri) team down."
The Jennies scored in minute 54 of the game with senior forward Julie Ireland hitting the back of the net for the fourth time this season.Â
The MSU defense that has been powerful this year only allowed three shots on the goal during the game. The offense took five shots on goal with
Ninfa Ramirez (Jr., Perris, Calif.) leading the team with three shots on goal herself.Â
Celine Johnson (Sr., Rocklin, Calif.) spent the majority of the time at goalkeeper making one save and allowing the lone goal on the day.
Leila Torres (Jr., Burlingame, Calif.) also spent minutes at goalie making one save.Â
The Beaver will play their homecoming game against the University of Mary on September 15 at 7 p.m.
