SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Minot State University soccer team recorded its sixth-straight win and third straight shutout in 2-0 fashion against Sioux Falls on Sunday.
Ninfa Ramirez netted both goals to move her into double-digit goals this season at 11. Her first came just eight minutes after the start of the game and was assisted by fellow senior
Chloe Melton. That marks the fifth time Melton has assisted on a Ramirez goal in the two years they have played together.
The second goal in the second half at the 63-minute mark for Ramirez's 27th career goal as a Beaver.
On the defensive end MSU held its fifth opponent to a score of zero in eight games this season.
Yesenia Piceno and
Kelli Creese led the shutout as they played 90 and 87 minutes, respectively.
Ashley Franco and
Ryann Rafferty both contributed a great deal as well each playing over 60 minutes.
Minot State now leads the NSIC with 18 points and have a two-point cushion over Augustana, a team which they beat earlier in the year.
The Beavers will look to keep up their undefeated streak this week in their seventh and eighth conference games of 2016. Last season MSU started off 7-0 in NSIC play before tying at Minnesota State.
Minot State will travel to Minnesota Duluth on Friday, October 7 and host St. Cloud State on Sunday, October 9 at Herb Parker Stadium. Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m while Sunday's will start at 1 p.m.
