Quick goal earns win for MSU

ST. PAUL, MINN. - The Minot State University soccer team got a 1-0 lead early in its game at Concordia, St. Paul and held on to it to win on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Brianna Ramsey scored her first goal as a Beaver in the fifth minute of the game to give the Beavers their cushion. Ashley Franco was credited with the assist for her sixth of the season and 10th of her career.

Franco is just the third MSU player in school history to record double-digit assists. Zoe Fischer and current Beaver Chloe Melton were the first two as they lead the career record books with 17 each.

The Golden Bears didn't go away throughout the match as they shot eight times, two more than the Beavers, in the first half playing a physical game. In the second half the MSU squad was able to shift things into its favor out-shooting the opponent 14-5.

Minot State will finish out its season next week with three games starting with a Tuesday night game against the University of Mary on October 25 at 7 p.m. Then the Beavers travel to MSU Moorhead on Friday, October 28 to play at 3 p.m. Senior Night will then be hosted at Herb Parker Stadium for the final regular season game on Sunday, October 30 at 1 p.m. against Norther State.
