MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minot State started slowly in game 1 and couldn't finish in game 2 en route to a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference softball losses at Minnesota State University Moorhead Tuesday at the MSUM Softball Field.
The Beavers (12-23 overall, 1-16 NSIC) fell behind 4-1 after a four-run first inning in game 1 as MSU Moorhead went on to win 7-1. It was just the opposite as Minot State led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third in game 2, but the Dragons (12-22, 3-13) scored two in the third, two in the fourth and two more in the sixth for a 7-3 win.
In game 1, the Beavers struggled in the field with three errors, allowing four unearned runs. MSU starter
Alyssa Cornejo (Jr., P/UTL, Riverside, Calif.) gave up just four hits in four innings pitched with five strikeouts, but allowed four runs – one earned – in the loss.
Jordan Grant (Jr., CF, Adelanto, Calif.) had two of the Beavers three hits in the game and had two stolen bases, but Minot State couldn't only get her around to score one time. She came around to score on

The Beavers were outhit 9-3 as MSUM's Morgan Nybo pitched a three-hitter in the win.
In game 2, the Beavers pushed across a single run in each of the first three innings. But MSU couldn't hold the lead as the Dragons scored six runs in the final four innings.
Jenn Spencer (Jr., P, Winnipeg, Manitoba) went the distance, giving up 10 hits and all seven runs in the loss.
Cornejo and Daniel Carbajal (Fr., INF, San Marcos, Calif.) each had two hits. Ramirez and Cornejo drove in runs for MSU.
The Beavers return to Herb Parker Stadium to play a makeup double header with University of Mary Thursday starting at 2 p.m..
