MINOT, N.D. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Erin Rafferty continued her strong sophomore campaign with her sixth shutout of the season in Minot State's 3-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon at Herb Parker Stadium.
The win improves Minot State to 5-4-1 (4-3 NSIC) while the Mustangs fall to 0-9-0 (0-7 NSIC).
Rafferty recorded four saves in the shutout, improving her record to 5-4-1 in goal this season.
Freshman
Sofia Lewis scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 22
nd minute to open up the scoring. Lewis scored on a header from five yards out off a cross from
Haley Berryman from the right side.
Senior
Kelli Creese found the net in the 63
rd minute off the pass from
Jordyn Cook and
Haley Berryman, doubling Minot State's lead to 2-0.
Sydnee Canales capped the scoring for the Beavers in the 67
th minute. Canales received the pass from Lewis on the right side and snuck one past the keeper into the left side of the net.
Morgan Myers was credited with the second assist on the score.
Minot State finished with a strong 24-11 advantage in shots and 6-1 lead in corner kicks over the Mustangs.
Minot State returns to action next weekend when they play host to Minnesota Duluth on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at Herb Parker Stadium before traveling to St. Cloud, Minn. to take on St. Cloud State on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.
