MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Sydnee Canales and Haley Berryman each scored goals, but Tomoni Nishihara scored with 19 seconds remaining in overtime lifting Minnesota State Moorhead to a 3-2 victory over Minot State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Friday at the Nemzek Soccer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Minnesota State Moorhead took a 1-0 lead when Jennifer Barnes scored off a rebound at the 24:22 mark of the first period
• Sydnee Canales knotted the match at 1-1 at the 34:38 mark of the first period when she took a feed from Andrea Franco and beat the keeper
• Minot State took the lead early in the second period when Haley Berryman scored off an assist from Sofia Lewis putting the Beavers ahead 2-1
• Jessica Dallman knotted the match at 2-2 for MSU Moorhead when she scored an unassisted goal at the 80:28 mark of the second period
• Tomoni Nishihara clinched the win for the Dragons when she scored off a cross from Carly Jo Gamrath with 19 seconds remaining in overtime

BEAVER TRACKS

• Sydnee Canales scored her first goal of the season for the Beavers in the first period
• Haley Berryman scored her fourth goal of the year in the second period
• Andrea Franco and Sofia Lewis each had an assist for Minot State
• Erin Rafferty made three saves in goal for the Beavers
• Haley Berryman led Minot State with four shots, while Sofia Lewis and Audrey Wilson each had two shots

TEAM NOTES

• Minot State suffered its first loss of the season and dropped to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC
• Minot State held a 19-10 advantage in shots and a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks
• This marked the Dragons first-ever win over Minot State as they entered the match with an 0-7-1 all-time record against the Beavers
• Minot State allowed three goals in a match for the first time since the 2016 season when the Beavers lost to Central Oklahoma in the NCAA Tournament
