Beavers Host Wayne State, Augustana in NSIC Play

MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State women's soccer team returns to Herb Parker Stadium this weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches. The Beavers host Wayne State on Friday (Sept. 21) at 7 p.m. and then face Augustana on Sunday (Sept. 23) at 12 p.m.

The Beavers enter the contest with a 4-1-1 overall record having gone 2-1 last week in matches against Mary, Minnesota State Moorhead and Northern State. Minot State is 2-1 in the NSIC and currently tied for fifth place in the league standings.

Sofia Lewis has been the Beavers top offensive producer on the season as she has six goals, five assists and 17 points to lead the team in each category. Lewis, who has registered a point in every match this year, leads the NSIC in points,points per game, assists, assists per game and ranks second in the conference in goals and goals per game.

Haley Berryman has tallied four goals on the season and also has an assist and nine points for the year. Sydnee Canales ranks second on the team with three assists and has also scored a goal.

Jordyn Cook, who scored the game-winning goal against Mary, is third on the team with two goals and five points.

Daniela Fonseca registered her first goal of the season in the victory at Northern State and nine different Beaver players have registered goals on the year.

Erin Rafferty has a 4-1-1 record in goal for the Beavers and has a 0.99 goals against average and 15 saves.

Wayne State enters Friday's match with a 1-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the NSIC. The Wildcats are led by Rylie Wehner who has scored three goals.

Augustana is 4-1-1 overall and unbeaten in the NSIC with a 3-0 mark. The Vikings have won four straight matches, including two shutout wins last week over Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. Alexis Legg leads Augustana with five goals on the year.
