MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State soccer team will host Northwest Nazarene on Saturday (Sept. 8) at 7 p.m. in Herb Parker Stadium in a battle of undefeated teams.
Minot State enters the match with a 2-0 record, while Northwest Nazarene is 4-0 on the season. The Beavers own victories over Black Hills State and Oklahoma Baptist, while Northwest Nazarene defeated Monterey Bay, Adams State, Minnesota Crookston and Northern State.
The Beavers dominated their two opponents and outscored them by a combined 9-0. Sophomore
Sofia Lewis got her season off to a hot start as she scored three goals and had three assists in the two matches and earned United Soccer Coaches Division II Player of the Week and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Haley Berryman also netted three goals for Minot State, including two in the season opener, and ranks second on the team with six points.
Sydnee Canales and
Cinthya Samaniego are tied for second on the team with two assists, while
Taryn Love,
Ashley Hunter and
Melanie van Walstijn have all scored goals for the Beavers.
Erin Rafferty and
Mackenzie Long have combined to post two shutouts to start the season. Rafferty has made one save in 155 minutes, while Long has played 24 minutes.
Northwest Nazarene improved to 4-0 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Northern State on Thursday. The Nighthawks also own a 5-0 victory over Minnesota Crookston on Sept. 3.
Northwest Nazarene is led by Madi Taylor who has four goals in four matches, while Maddy Parton has three goals on the year.
