Minot State Soccer Travels for Pivotal Conference Weekend

(MINOT, N.D.) -- Minot State soccer is hitting the road for a weekend of play with major conference tournament implications.
The Beavers will head to Fayette, Iowa to take on the Upper Iowa Peacocks on Friday, Oct. 25 and then travel north to Winona State for a match on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Minot State, UIU, and Winona State are all within three places of each other in the NSIC standings.
 
Series History

      vs. Upper Iowa 
  • Minot State leads the all-time series with the Peacocks 5-4.
  • Upper Iowa won the first ever meeting between the teams by a score of 1-0 (9/22/12).
  • The Beavers have won the last five games against Upper Iowa after the Peacocks took the first four matches in the series.
  • Minot State has outscored UIU 15-8 in their nine matches.
      vs. Winona State  
  • The Beavers lead the overall series against Winona State 7-2.
  • Minot State won the most recent match 2-0 (10/21/18) and the very first match between the teams 1-0 (9/23/12)
  • The Warriors won the 2013 and 2014 matches 1-0 and 2-1, respectively, but have not been victorious since.
  • Minot State has outscored Winona State 16-5 in the all-time series.

      Upper Iowa  
  • Upper Iowa enters with an overall record of 2-7-4 and an NSIC record of 2-3-2.
  • The Peacock offense has made a total of 185 shots on the season.
  • Sophomore forward Haley Ramberg leads the Peacocks with three goals and 16 total points.
  • Facienne Graham has also been a force on offense with the team lead in shots and shots on goal with 36 and 18, respectively.
  • UIU keeper Natalie Rudrud has made an impressive 102 saves in 2019.
Winona State
  • The Warriors enter the weekend with records of 5-8-0 overall and 4-6-0 in conference play.
  • Winona State is led by a trio of offensive stars in Georgette Topalis, Courtney Wiencek, and Jaida Wiege. The Warriors' trifecta has recorded a combined nine goals and 23 total points on 74 total shots.
  • In goal, Yanel Ortiz has started all 13 games for Winona State. Ortiz has made 65 saves while allowing 23 goals.
