Soccer Facing Two Must-Win Matches

(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State Beaver soccer team is faced with two must-win games this weekend.

The Beavers will host St. Cloud State University on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3:00 p.m. and will then travel to Duluth to take on the Bulldogs of UMD on Sunday, Nov. 3 at noon.
 
Minot State currently has 9 total team points in the conference standings and must win both of this weekend's games in order to remain in contention for the NSIC Conference Tournament.

 
Series History

      vs. St. Cloud State 
  • Minot State leads the all-time series with the Huskies, 7-2.
  • The Beavers have won the last four games against the Huskies.
  • St. Cloud State has not beaten MSU since 2015.
  • The Huskies other win came in the inaugural match in 2010 by a score of 2-1.
  • Minot State has outscored the Huskies 21-11 in their nine matches.
      vs. Minnesota-Duluth
  • The Beavers lead the overall series against Minnesota-Duluth, 6-1.
  • Minot State won the most recent match 1-0 (10/28/18) and the very first match between the teams 1-0 (10/27/12)
  • The Bulldogs' only victory came in 2013 by a score of 2-1.

      St. Cloud State  
  • SCSU enters with an overall record of 7-4-3 and an NSIC record of 6-3-2.
  • The St. Cloud offense has made a total of 222 shots on the season with 109 on goal.
  • Freshman forward Claire Shea has been dominant on offense for the Huskies with four goals, two assists, ten total points, and 55 shots.
  • Six other Huskies have scored this season including Jenna Dominguez, Nicole Friis, and Kaitlyn Dziubinski.
  • The Huskies' impressive defense is led by keeper Zoe Welsh with 58 saves and four shutouts on the season.
Minnesota-Duluth
  • The Bulldogs enter the weekend with records of 5-8-2 overall and 3-5-2 in conference play.
  • UMD has scored 21 goals this season compared to their opponents' 19.
  • The Bulldog offense is led by senior midfielder Emily Hinz with eight goals, one assist, and 16 shots on goal for 17 total points.
  • In goal, Sophia Grenz has been a mainstay with 74 saves and 19 goals allowed.
