Box Score (CROOKSTON, MINN.) – The Minot State soccer team was defeated 3-2 at Minnesota-Crookston earlier this afternoon.
Despite coming up just short, the Beavers had a historic day on the pitch. Junior forward
Sofia Lewis broke Minot State's record for goals scored in a career with her 33
rd and 34
th scores as a Beaver. She netted both of Minot State's goals today (34', 56').
Daniela Fonseca assisted on one of Lewis' goals.
Lewis also led the Beavers in shots with 11, followed by Fonseca with six and Melanie van Walsitjn with five.
For UMC, Vanessa Shelton, Maggie Peterson, and Latafale Niumeitolu scored the three goals with assists coming from Peterson and Kiya Gere. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead with their first goal coming in the 3
rd-minute and held on just long enough to outlast a surging Beaver team.

Erin Rafferty made two saves and UMC keeper Athena DiMario Done made a remarkable 16 saves.
The win for the Golden Eagles was their first of the year and the first for rookie head coach Kyle Halfpop. UMC now sits at 1-14-0 overall and 1-13-0 in NSIC play.
Minot State's overall record in now 3-14-0 and their NSIC mark is 3-11-0
The Beavers 2019 season will conclude later this week when they travel to Bismarck to face rival UMary on Friday, Nov. 8.
