(DICKINSON, N.D.) – The Minot State wrestling team won their second dual is as many contests. The Beavers traveled to Dickinson State and defeated the Blue Hawks 32-19.
Minot State dominated the dual from start to finish with a total of four pins and two technical falls.
The Beavers are now 6-7 overall with two duals remaining in NSIC competition at UMary and MSU Moorhead.
To start the night,
Liam Hayden was beaten in the 141-pound match by a 3-1 decision. Then,
Shadi Mitwalli got the Beavers going with a 16-5 major decision win to give MSU the 4-3 team advantage.
Following Mitwalli,
Zach Berry recorded the first pin of the night for Minot State at 157 pounds. Berry's win extended the Beavers' lead and the visiting squad never looked back.
Nathan Baca followed Berry's pin with another win by fall at 165.
In the 174-pound match,
Joey Lopez extended the MSU advantage to 21-3 with a convincing 17-1 tech. fall victory. The 184-pound tilt was one of just a few that went the Blue Hawks' direction as
Matthew Rabe lost by fall. Senior
Parker Osterman was also beaten in the 197-pound grapple by a 15-6 decision.
Normally, Minot State's nightcap, heavyweight
Jordan Will won by fall in the third period. The lineup swung around to 125-pounder
Dean Arevalo who picked up another win by tech. fall. The final match of the night was taken by Dickinson state by forfeit.
The Beavers' excellent night ended in a 32-19 win.
Minot State will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 16 at rival UMary with the dual beginning at 3:00 p.m.
