FREMONT, Neb. – The Minot State women's hockey team is happy to be leaving Nebraska.

For the second straight day, the Beavers played well only to come up short against a tough foe, falling 3-1 in a neutral-ice battle against Adrian College (Mich.) at the home rink of Midland University.

"Two hard-fought battles against two good hockey teams," said Minot State's head coach Ryan Miner, whose team fell 4-2 to Midland on Thursday night. "Scoring was not on our side, but it is early and we will learn from this, grow, and move on to prepare for the next opponent."

Neither team scored for more than half the game Friday, but with 6 minutes, 23 seconds left in the second period the Bulldogs (5-1-0 overall) snapped the scoreless tie.

Adrian pushed its lead to 2-0 early in the third period before the Beavers (5-2-0) got on the board with 6:10 gone in the third when Ensley Fendelet score. Megan Norris and Denali Sigurdson assisted on the goal, which briefly made it a 2-1 contest.

Briefly, as the Bulldogs scored 1:22 later on the power play, an insurance goal that helped ice the win.

Jordan Ivanco finished with 19 saves on the night for Minot State, which plays its sixth straight on the road at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., next Friday, Oct. 29. The Beavers then return home to Maysa Arena to host the Cobbers on Saturday, Oct. 30.
