MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Beavers got back on track but needed overtime to do it Friday night.
Ensley Fendelet netted the game-winner with 1 minute left in the extra session to give the Minot State women's hockey team a 1-0 victory over host Concordia College in the teams' exhibition contest.
The win snapped a two-game skid for Minot State and gave the ACHA Beavers a big win in their first-ever meeting with an NCAA program.
"A proud moment for our program," Minot State coach
Ryan Miner said. "The team came together and found a way to win in a hard-fought battle again a good team on the road. Tonight we played Beaver hockey and made a statement.
"I think we opened many eyes and showed the depth of our team and the ACHA as a league," Miner added. "We will soak in this win briefly and start preparing for tomorrow."
The two teams play another exhibition Saturday night as their two-game series shifts to North Dakota as Minot State (5-2-0 overall) hosts Concordia at the Maysa Arena at 4 p.m.
Fendelet scored the unassisted winner 4 minutes into the 5-minute overtime, snapping the scoreless tie and lifting Minot State to the win, while
Jordan Ivanco earned the shutout in goal for the Beavers.
