Beavers get back in the win column with 5-0 win over Minnesota Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn. -- Minot State got a pair of goals from Sarah Upton in a 5-0 shutout win against Minnesota-Crookston Friday on the road at the UMC Soccer Field.

The win improved Minot States record to 10-4-2 overall and 9-2-2 in NSIC play.

How it Happened

Minot State took a 1-0 lead when Upton recorded her first goal of the season in the third minute, assisted by Sofia Galvez.

The Beavers tacked on another score on a goal from Upton -- her second goal of the season -- in the fifth minute, assisted by Sofia Lewis.

Minot State made it a 3-0 lead on Anabel Noches' 30th-minute goal, her first of the season. Logan Holley assisted the goal.

The Beavers kept Minnesota-Crookston scoreless and took a 4-0 lead with a 60th-minute goal from Lainey Sandberg, her second goal of the season.

Minot State rounded out the scoring for the day to make it 5-0 on Lewis' ninth goal of the season in the 83rd minute, assisted by Noches.

Game Notes

  • Maddie Kindred recorded four saves for the Beavers out of five total Golden Eagles shots.
  • Minot State collected 14 shots on goal.

The Beavers will head back home for a Halloween matchup of the Beavers as sixth ranked Bemidji State comes to town this Sunday. The match is set for a noon kickoff, as MSU will be honoring the seniors of the team.
