ADRIAN, Mich. - The Minot State women's hockey team started the night strong but couldn't find the back of the net and host Adrian took advantage.
The second-ranked Bulldogs scored early in the second period to snap a scoreless tie, skating to a 3-1 victory over the sixth-ranked Beavers on Thursday night.
The Beavers (9-3-0 overall) outshot their host 11-5 in the first period but Adrian goalie Halle Faulkner stop all 11 chances, keep in the game scoreless heading into the second.
Eleven seconds into the second period Adrian (10-2-1) scored to break the tie, and then 2 minutes, 23 seconds later the Bulldogs put another goal in the net for a quick 2-0 lead. Adrian scored once more later in the second period for a comfortable 3-0 advantage.
Minot State, which finished the game with a 35-29 advantage in shots on goal, clawed its way back into the game as
Alisha O'Hara scored an unassisted, power-play goal with 15:15 left in the contest, but the Beavers could get no closer.
Jordan Ivanco made 26 saves in goal for Minot State, which plays at Adrian again on Friday at 2 p.m. Central time.
