MINOT, N.D.- The Minot State Beavers (0-1) men's wrestling team opened NSIC action against the Northern State Wolves (2-0). The Beavers got off to a hot start but ultimately fell to the Wolves 19-13.
The Beavers got off to a fiery start as they took the 10-0 lead after three matches. The dual started out in a 10-4 victory to Beaver junior
Oscar Nellis over Brenden Salfrank. Senior
Brandon Meikel followed Nellis' lead by securing the 8-2 victory over Landon Fischer. The hot streak continued as sophomore
Lincoln Stormer racked up another win for MSU thanks to an 8-0 major decision over Robert Coyle.
The Wolves then turned on a hot streak of their own winning six consecutive matches. It started out with junior
Shadi Mitwalli falling in a 3-10 major decision to Wyatt Turnquist. The Wolves followed that up with a 9-7 victory over junior
Nathan Baca. Another close battle between Chase Bloomquist and freshman
Cannon Potts saw Bloomquist come out on top 7-6. Kelby Hawkins soared his way past freshman
Cayden White by a score of 14-5. Freshman
Noah Gallardo fought but came up short to Treyton Cacek by a score of 10-4. Rounding out the hot streak for the Wolves was Cole Huss sneaking his way past senior
Noe Garcia by a score of 5-3.

Jake Swirple gave the Beavers a jolt to end the night by securing the 5-3 win over Josh Trumble.
The Beavers will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to Moorhead, Minn. to participated in the Dragon Open, set to start at 10 a.m.
