MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State softball team (7-1) took care of business quickly in a five-inning victory over Bemidji State (2-3). MSU's Sunday win finished an undefeated weekend of softball in the Air-Supported Dome.
Trinity Valentine started in the circle for the Beavers and picked up the victory to earn her fourth win of the season. Valentine threw three complete innings while striking out three batters and allowing zero hits.
Gabi Dawyduk came on in relief and threw the final two innings and recorded two K's of her own.
The scoring for MSU did not start until the second frame when
Lauryn DeGuzman reached on an error. After being moved around by a strikeout and a groundout,
Lenora Watson singled to break the scoreless tie.
Jamie Odlum and
Maggie Mercer then joined the party with a double and single, respectively. The Beavers plated three total runs in the second inning.
An inning later,
Isis Cabral started the third stanza with a bomb to right field. Later,
Jaycie Rostad singled to drive in DeGuzman again.
Minot State eventually plated two runs in fourth and fifth innings to reach their final total score.
For Bemidji State, the offense struggled against MSU's arms with only two total hits for the game. Kyla Damerow suffered the loss for BSU.

The Beavers will be back on the diamond next weekend for a neutral site double-header in St. Cloud, Minn. against Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
