MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader against the University of Minnesota Duluth by the finals of 10-1 and 8-1 on Thursday at home.
GAME 1 | Minnesota-Duluth 10, Minot State 1
Minot State had a tough showing on Thursday, falling to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs by a final score of 10-1.
Junior Trinity Valentine (9-8) got the ball to start for Minot State (7-6) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Beavers were led by sophomore Lauryn DeGuzman, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a double. Freshman Kilee Fehd put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-1 with a double.
Senior Julia Suchan also chipped in for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Minot State got an RBI single from Suchan, scoring sophomore Jazmin Karunungan from third base. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Minnesota-Duluth scored 10 times over the remaining four innings to grab the 10-1 win.

The Minot State Beavers were not able to record a run against Minnesota-Duluth pitcher sophomore Mady Stariha on Thursday and were shut out 8-0 by the Bulldogs.
Sophomore Zoya Robbins (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State (7-7).
At the plate, the Beavers were paced by senior Isis Cabral, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minot State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Beavers went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second when Cabral made it into scoring position with one out.
