WINONA, MINN. – Minot State baseball traveled to Winona to take on the Warriors of Winona State University in a location-adjusted double-header.
The Beavers and Warriors were originally scheduled to face off at Corbett Field, the recent snowstorm forced the NSIC two-gamer to move south.
During the mid-week duo, the Beaver offense failed to provide enough pop for a solid pitching staff to get the job done in either game.
GAME 1
Sophomore
Garrett Nicholson's eight strikeouts over three innings were not enough for the Beavers as Minot State lost to the Warriors 12-1.
In addition to his eight strikeouts, Nicholson tossed three shutout innings while giving up one hit and walking two for Minot State.
In the batter's box, the Beavers were paced by senior
Ryley Humrighouse, who went 0-for-1 on the day with a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 12-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Sophomore
Kaiden Cardoso came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

Freshman
Carson Tonini (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State. Sophomore
Connor Green was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out two.
At the plate, the Beavers were paced by junior
Drew Behling, who went 1-for-3 for the game with a home run and an RBI. Sophomore
Kaiden Cardoso furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Cardoso came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
The Warriors then rallied to score five runs and take a 5-1 lead before the Beavers got back on the board in the seventh. Minot State picked up a run on Behling's two-out solo home run off of Bailey Banaszynski, which tightened the Warriors lead to 5-2. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
