MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's hockey team lost their first game of the ACHA Women's National Tournament earlier today. The Beavers fell to the Adrian College Bulldogs by a 3-1 score.
Both squads got on the board in the first period to start the game. Leah Williams put one into the net for the Bulldogs with an assist from Nicole Thomas.
Haley Wickham provided the equalizer after assists from
Camryn Clyne and
Alisha O'Hara.
Once the second period started, Adrian owned the scoreboard. Katrina Robinson scored a goal in both the second and third periods. Cecila Werner and Erika McDonald assisted on those two scores.
Minot State failed to draw even in the last two periods and eventually lost as the higher-seeded team.
In goal,
Jordan Ivanco allowed started for Minot State and saved 26 shots. Halle Faulkner was stellar for Adrian with just one goal allowed and 37 saves.
The Beavers will be back on the ice at Maysa Arena tomorrow afternoon for their second game of pool play. Minot State will face off against Midland University at 1 p.m.
