Beavers' Senior Day Spoiled by Golden Eagles in Series and Season Finale

MINOT, N.D. -- Minot State took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 4-3 to Minnesota-Crookston Saturday.
 
Freshman Trevyn Badger (1-2) took the loss on the mound for Minot State. Junior Jordan Chappell was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three.
 
Freshman Gunnar Kozlowitz led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 0-for-1 in the ballgame with three walks. Senior Ryley Humrighouse provided a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Humrighouse came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board.
 
The Beavers kept the Golden Eagles off the board before tying it up in the fifth. Humrighouse came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State, which brought the score level at 2-2.
 
That 2-2 tie turned into a 3-2 Minot State lead in the sixth. The Beavers added a run when sophomore Jake Collins drew a walk from Matt Nelson that scored senior Nolan Monthei. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Minnesota-Crookston scored two times, with back-to-back homeruns, over the remaining three innings to grab the 4-3 win.
