KENOSHA, WISC.- The Minot State men's wrestling team traveled to Wisconsin in their first ever conference matchup against the University of Wisconsin at Parkside Rangers. Unfortunately the Beavers fell short by a final score of 28-9. The Beavers fall to 0-3 while the Rangers improve to 1-2 on the year.
Starting off the night in the 125 pound weight class
Joseph Arroyo of UWP defeated
Oscar Nellis by a major decision of 16-4.
In the 133 pound weight class the Beavers got their first points of the night thanks to
Brandon Meikel securing the 3-1 decision over
Joey Roti.
In the 141 pound weight class
Kelby Armstrong fell to Parksides'
Cayden Henschel by a 6-2 decision.
The 149 pound weight class saw
Nathan Hensley take the 18-7 major decision over
Shadi Mitwalli.
Beaver
Nathan Baca got the Beavers back on the roll with a 3-1 decision over
Ben Durocher in the 157 pound weight class.
the 165 pound weight class went to the Rangers'
Shane Gantz with a 15-1 major decision over Beaver
Cannon Potts.
The Rangers continued their roll in the 174 pound weight class with
Job Ayala defeating
Cayden White with a fall at the 2:36 mark.
The 184 pound weight class fell in the paws of the Rangers as
Reece Woracheck slipped past
Keegan Berry with a 3-2 decision.
The 197 pound weight class also fell to UWP to
Rodsean Graham as he took the 10-2 major decision over
Dustin Swisher.
In the heavyweight class
Jordan Will overpowered
Nate Lloyd with the 7-0 shutout victory.
The dual at Upper Iowa on Sunday was cancelled due to COVID issues in the Peacocks program. The Beavers will be back in action next weekend as they travel back to the MSU Dome to face off in front of their home fans for the first time since December 10th as they take on the Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks Friday night at 7 p.m. followed by Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
