ST. LOUIS, Mo. – It was a fitting finish to a fabulous week on the road.
Haylie Biever stopped all 16 shots she faced as the fifth-ranked Minot State women's hockey team won its fifth straight against Top-10 foes, beating host Maryville 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to complete a two-game weekend sweep of the Saints.
"Great team accomplishment this week," Minot State head coach
Ryan Miner said. "To go 5-1 in six straight road games is exceptional. Proud of the team's work ethic and the adversity they fought through to earn these wins!"
Megan Norris scored the game's lone goal with 1 minute, 36 seconds gone in the second period off a
Denali Sigurdson assist, then the Beavers never let the ninth-ranked Saints rally as Minot State (19-4-0 overall, 11-2-0 WMCH) outshot their hosts 40-16 in the win.
A win that capped a six-game, eight-day road trip that saw the Beavers beat then-No. 4 Lindenwood 4-3 in overtime on Sunday to start a victory run that included 5-0 and 4-1 wins at No. 6 McKendree on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by a 3-1 win on Friday at Maryville prior to Saturday's road-trip capping shutout.
The shutout was the third of the season for Biever and her first this week, as goaltender partner
Jordan Ivanco made 20 saves in Minot State's 5-0 shutout of McKendree earlier in the week.
The extended road trip was the final one of the regular season for the Beavers who now play six straight at home at the Maysa Arena, a stretch that starts next weekend when the University of Colorado visits North Dakota. The Buffaloes are in town on Friday, Jan. 28, with puck-drop scheduled for 2 p.m., then are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 5 p.m. against Minot State.
The Beavers then host No. 12-ranked Michigan State on Feb. 4 and 5, and close the regular season hosting No. 8 Midland on Feb. 18 and 19.
