MINOT, N.D.- The Minot State Beavers men's wrestling team fell to visiting Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks by a team score of 26-10 Friday night at the MSU Dome.
Oscar Nellis started the Beavers off with a sudden victory win over ranked Trenton McManus of Mankato. The Mavericks then went on a run as Brock Luthens defeated
Brandon Meikel with an 8-0 major decision followed by Kolbe O'Brien over
Kelby Armstrong with a fall with 1:30 left in the 3
rd period. Kyle Rathman continued the Maverick assault as he defeated
Shadi Mitwalli by a 7-2 decision followed by a close 3-1 decision of Mankato's Cooper Siebrecht over
Nathan Baca.
Cannon Potts broke the Maverick assault by slipping past Michael Smith by a 10-8 score. A 19-6 major decision by ranked Trevor Turriff over
Cayden White pushed the Maverick lead even further.
Keegan Berry kept the Beaver hopes alive with a 14-3 major decision over Gavin Christoffersen to make it 20-10 Mankato with two duals left. Unfortunately for the Beavers the last two duals of the night fell in favor of the Mavericks. Dylan Butts defeated
Noe Garcia by a 5-1 decision and ranked Darrell Mason defeated
Jordan Will by a 5-3 decision.
The Beavers will head back to the Dome for a showdown tomorrow against the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs at 2 p.m.
