MINOT, N.D. – This is the kind of home opener you definitely want to enjoy.
The Minot State men's wrestling team won nearly every match they competed in on Saturday while hosting Saskatchewan and Jamestown in the Beaver Bash Duals, as the Beavers beat the Huskies 60-0 and the Jimmies 40-3.
Austin Frantzich and
Cayden White led the way each with a pin in each of their matches as Frantzich won by pin in 2 minutes, 10 seconds at 165 pounds against Saskatchewan, and in 4:02 seconds against the Jimmies.
As for White, he won his 184-pound match in 1:35 against Saskatchewan, and in just 27 seconds against the Jimmies.
Also adding a pair of wins was heavyweight
Jake Swirple in his season debut as the Beavers center in football won by pin in 1:31 against Saskatchewan and won a 3-2 decision against the Jimmies to move his career record to 16-0.
Cannon Potts also added a pin at 174 pounds in 1:12 against Saskatchewan, and
Oscar Nellis won by pin at 125 pounds against Jamestown.
Next up for Minot State, they will compete at the Dragon Open hosted by MSU Moorhead on Dec. 3.
