ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second straight game, Minot State goalie
Jordan Ivanco was unbeatable and her teammates unstoppable.
Ivanco made 27 saves stretching her shutout streak at the ACHA Division I National Tournament to 120 minutes, while five different Beavers scored as Minot State skated past Indiana Tech 5-0 on Friday and into the semifinals at nationals.
Minot State will play Midland at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals.
Ivanco, who made 13 saves in a 9-0 victory over the University of Colorado on Wednesday to open the national tournament, recorded her seventh shutout of the year with Friday's quarterfinal win.
A win sparked by a fast start as senior
Haley Wickham scored 20 seconds into the game off an assist from
Alisha O'Hara, a goal that proved to be the game-winner thanks to Ivanco's efforts in goal.
But the Beavers (26-6-1 overall) added plenty of insurance as
Sydney Spicer scored off a
Riley Ball assist with 4:50 gone in the second, then O'Hara scored with 2:36 left until the second intermission for a comfortable 3-0 Minot State advantage. Wickham and
Megan Norris assisted on O'Hara's goal.
Comfortably in control, Minot State iced the victory with a pair of empty-net goals in the third period as the Warriors pulled out all the stops down 3-0 looking to battle back into the contest.
Norris scored the first empty-netter off a Wickham assist with 7:34 left to play, then
Jessica Walker added an empty-net goal with 4:22 left off a
Lauren Blight assist.
