ST. PETER, Minn. --The Minot State Beavers were shut out 7-0 by the Mavericks.
Senior Jordan Chappell (2-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State (6-11, 0-2).
Senior Drew Behling led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 2-for-3 in the ball game with a double.
GAME 2: Junior Kaiden Cardoso collected three hits, but the Minot State Beavers fell to the Minnesota State Mavericks 14-7 Saturday.
Junior Ricky Apodaca (1-2) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss. Junior Bryant Bagshaw was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing four shutout innings, allowing five hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.
In addition to his three hits, Cardoso had two RBIs to lead the Beavers. Freshman Dalin Ludlow put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI. Junior Matt Malone also contributed for Minot State, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding two RBIs.

Minot State could not take advantage of chances with runners on third, going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Beavers last got a runner on third in the seventh, when sophomore Mark Ossanna made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers were trailing 12-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Minot State got an RBI single from Cardoso, scoring Ludlow from second base.
Minot State kept the Mavericks off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 12-5 in the sixth. The Beavers notched a run, on Ludlow's two-out RBI double.
The Beavers continued narrowing the gap further in the seventh. Malone's run-scoring single brought home one run in a two-run output for the Beavers, tightening the Minnesota State lead to 12-7. The Beavers were unable to get any closer, as Minnesota State added two runs to their tally on the way to a 14-7 final.
