WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Juniors Alina Gonzalez and Jamie Odlum each racked up three RBIs to help propel the Minot State Beavers over the Dominican (NY) Chargers 15-2 on Saturday.
Freshman Reegan Floyd (7-1) got the win for Minot State (19-5). The right-hander went five innings, giving up one earned run on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out five.
Odlum went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run in addition to her three RBIs and Gonzalez put together a 3-for-3 day with a double, supplementing her three RBI performance for the Beavers. Junior Kilee Fehd compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beavers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with in the top of the first inning. Minot State's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a two-run single off the bat of junior Zoya Robbins and a two-run single from Gonzalez.
The Chargers failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Gonzalez's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Minot State scored twice, which brought the score to 8-0 in favor of the Beavers.
Dominican (NY) narrowed Minot State's lead to 8-1 before the Beavers stretched the advantage to 14-1 in the third inning. The Beavers hit two home runs in the inning on the way to scoring six runs.
Minot State held the Chargers scoreless before their offense got back in action the next inning. The Beavers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Lexi Barduson, bringing the Minot State advantage to 15-1. Dominican (NY) put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Beavers still coasted to the 15-2 win.
