WAYNE, Neb. --The Minot State Beavers rallied from down 2-1 in the fifth inning to knock off the Wayne State (NE) Wildcats 5-2 Tuesday.
Senior Branden Hatley (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (11-13, 5-4). The right-hander went one shutout inning without giving up a hit. Sophomore Trevyn Badger also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing two shutout innings while allowing one hit, with one walk and two strikeouts.
At the plate, the Beavers were led by senior Declan Buckle, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs. Junior Ricky Apodaca put together a noteworthy performance as well, with a triple and an RBI. HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Minot State got an RBI single from Malone, scoring Buckle from second base.
