WAYNE, Neb. --The Minot State Beavers rallied from down 2-1 in the fifth inning to knock off the Wayne State (NE) Wildcats 5-2 Tuesday.

Senior Branden Hatley (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Minot State (11-13, 5-4). The right-hander went one shutout inning without giving up a hit. Sophomore Trevyn Badger also made an impact on the mound for the Beavers, throwing two shutout innings while allowing one hit, with one walk and two strikeouts.

At the plate, the Beavers were led by senior Declan Buckle, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs. Junior Ricky Apodaca put together a noteworthy performance as well, with a triple and an RBI. Junior Matt Malone also helped out for Minot State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
 

GAME 2: Junior Ricky Apodaca racked up four RBIs to help propel the Minot State Beavers past the Wayne State (NE) Wildcats 6-4 on Tuesday. 

Senior Noah Myhre (1-1) got the win for Minot State (12-13, 6-4). The right-hander went five shutout innings, giving up three hits, five walks and striking out six. Sophomore Craig Schmich also pitched well, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit and striking out one. 

Apodaca went 2-for-5 with a triple and a home run in addition to his four RBIs for the Beavers. Senior Blake Gallagher compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Junior Kaiden Cardoso also chipped in for Minot State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Beavers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Minot State got an RBI single from Malone, scoring Buckle from second base.

The Wildcats broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the sixth inning, when the Beavers got back on the scoreboard. Minot State put up two runs in the frame, punctuated with an RBI triple off the bat of Apodaca, which brought the Beavers lead to 3-2.

Minot State held Wayne State (NE) scoreless before building their lead to 5-2 the following inning. The Beavers added two to their tally on Buckle's two-run homer to left. The score remained 5-2 for the rest of the game, as Minot State held on for the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Beavers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Minot State plated two runs when Apodaca left the yard with junior Matt Malone aboard. 

The Wildcats failed to push any runs across before the Beavers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The Minot State offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Apodaca, which brought the score to 6-0 in favor of the Beavers. Wayne State (NE) put four runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Minot State still held on for the 6-4 win.
