Minot State drops a pair of close contests at St. Cloud State

GAME 1 | Saint Cloud State 3, Minot State 1

ST. CLOUD, Minn. --The Saint Cloud State Huskies were too much for Minot State on this particular day, as the Beavers lost 3-1 and 3-0 on Sunday in an NSIC doubleheader.

Freshman Reegan Floyd (7-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Minot State (22-8 overall, 3-3 NSIC) in the first game.

Junior Jamie Odlum led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame. Sophomore Brooklyn Morrison compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double. Junior Kiera Shwaluk also helped out, going 2-for-3 for Minot State.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beavers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Junior Jazmin Karununga came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minot State and get them on the board. The Beavers were unable to hold the lead, as Saint Cloud State scored three times over the remaining six innings to grab the 3-1 win.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. --The Minot State Beavers were not able to record a run against Saint Cloud State pitcher freshman E. Eickhoff on Sunday despite collecting six hits as the Beavers were shut out 3-0 by the Huskies.

Senior Trinity Valentine (10-5) got the ball to start for Minot State and took the loss. Sophomore Jasmine Blizzard was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Junior Jazmin Karununga led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Minot State managed two chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Beavers last got a runner on third in the sixth, when freshman Abby Lohse made it 60 feet away from scoring with nobody out.
