MINOT, ND --The Minot State Beavers took a 6-5 lead into the ninth inning, but could not hold on and fell 9-8 to the Saint Cloud State Huskies Saturday.
Sophomore Craig Schmich (0-4) came out of the bullpen for Minot State (26-21, 20-12) and took the loss. Senior Zach Newman was a bright spot for the Beavers, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Senior Blake Gallagher led the way offensively for the Beavers, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Senior Drew Behling furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Junior Ricky Apodaca also helped out with a double and two RBIs.
