SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Minot State women's soccer team opened their 2022 season with a dramatic finish to earn a 1-1 draw at Black Hills State on Monday at Ronnie Theisz Field.
Minot State moved to 0-0-1 on the season with the draw. The Beavers next play their home opener against No. 14-ranked Emporia State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium.
Coaches Comments
"Our opponent played with a good intensity and fight," head coach TJ Perez said.
"It was our first competitive game so it took us a second to get our legs and second half we made a good push at the end to get back in the game."
How it Happened
Black Hills State (0-2-1) broke the scoreless tie when Emma Avery scored in the 50th minute on a penalty kick.
The Beavers responded to make it a 1-1 game on a penalty-kick goal from Hadlee Paxman in the 88th minute. The goal was the first of the collegiate career for Paxman.
The 1-1 score held to the end of the game.
