MINOT, N.D. – Playing their third game in three games, the Beavers looked anything but weary.
No. 1-ranked Minot State put two pucks in the net in the opening minute of action and never let up, rolling to a 13-1 win over visiting Dakota College of Bottineau at the Maysa Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Jay Buchholz started the scoring just 44 seconds into the action, finishing off assists by
Joey Moffatt and
Sheldin Howard, then 16 seconds later
Josh Pederson scored off a
Reid Arnold assist for a quick 2-0 lead.
Having set the tone, the Beavers kept adding on as
Drew Carter,
Troy Hamilton, and
Davis Sheldon all scored a goal for a 5-0 lead in the first period before the Jacks ever got on the scoreboard.
Comfortably in control on top 5-1 heading into the second period, Minot State (24-1-0 overall) didn't let up as Arnold scored twice and Buchholz, Sheldon, Moffatt,
Carter Barley, and
Christian Kadolph added a goal apiece for a 12-1 lead.
Landyn Cochrane tacked on more as Minot State comfortably skated to the win.
Riley Wallace finished with 12 saves in the win for Minot State, which now gets three days off before hitting the ice again to host Waldorf on Thursday at 7 p.m.
