MINOT, N.D. - After a dramatic, last-second win a day earlier, the Beavers left the ice Saturday heartbroken.
The visiting Adrian Bulldogs this time pulled off the dramatic win, scoring 3 minutes, 42 seconds into overtime for a 3-2 victory at the Maysa Arena in a battle between Top-5 foes.
Friday, the Beavers scored with 7 seconds left for a 2-1 win.
Minot State got another late goal on Saturday which forced overtime as
Jordan Kulbida scored with 2:18 left in regulation, knotting the score 2-2.
Krissy Rink and
Denali Sigurdson set up the game-tying goal for Minot State (12-5-1 overall).
The fifth-ranked Beavers found themselves in comeback mode after the second-ranked Bulldogs broke a 1-1 tie with a goal early in the second period, then it remained a 2-1 contest for the next 35 minutes.
That after both teams scored late in the first period as
Mia Mckee put Minot State in front 1-0 with 3:12 left before the intermission, but a power-play goal less than 2 minutes later for the Bulldogs tied it, 1-1.
Rink and
Makenna Beard assisted on the Beavers first goal.
Jordan Ivanco made 35 saves in goal in the loss for Minot State, which is back in action at home next weekend with a pair of two more Top-5 tussles as the Beavers will host No. 4 Indiana Tech on Friday and Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
