MINOT, N.D. - The Beavers battled their way to win No. 3 in a row, completing a home weekend sweep of Lake Superior State on Saturday at the Maysa Arena.
A trio of Minot State players scored as the Beaver women's hockey team never trailed and beat the Lakers, 3-1.
Winners of three straight, as Minot State beat the Lakers 4-3 in overtime on Friday and one week ago the Beavers beat Liberty 3-2 in overtime, as well, Minot State now looks to extend its win streak playing at Indiana Tech this coming Thursday and Friday.
Saturday, the Beavers (3-3-0 overall) got started quickly as
Gillian Gervin scored 4 minutes, 39 seconds into the action off an assist from
Aspen Cooper.
Cooper then put one in the back of the net midway through the second period off a
Paige Ackerman assist, stretching the Beaver lead to 2-0.
Lake Superior State (0-6-0) managed to cut the difference in half, but
Olivia Opheim made sure there was no comeback as she put away her first of the season with 5:04 left in the second period for the final 3-1 margin.
A margin secured by
Haylie Biever in goal as she finished with 22 saves in the win for Minot State.
