MINOT, N.D. – It's been a few weeks, but the top-ranked Minot State men's hockey team is back in action this weekend and will treat their fans with a pair of home games at the Maysa Arena.
But before the puck drops here in Minot, the Beavers will be headed south to take on in-state rival the University of Mary on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Then Friday and Saturday, it will be another in-state battle as the University of Jamestown rolls into Minot for two games with start time at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
The Beavers (9-0-0 overall) have already played – and beaten – both this season with a 5-3 win over the Marauders (6-2-0) and a 3-1 victory over the Jimmies (7-2-0), with both games on the road for Minot State.
Going into tomorrow's game hosted by Mary in Mandan, North Dakota, the Beavers are 14-1-2 all-time against the 19th-ranked Marauders, who moved up to the ACHA Division I level this season after winning the National Championships twice at the D-II level.
In the teams' previous meeting earlier this month,
Troy Hamilton and
Carter Barley each scored twice for the Beavers, who led throughout, and
Riley Wallace made 20 saves in the win.
Friday and Saturday at the Maysa Arena, the Beavers host a Jamestown team that has a much longer history with Minot State, but one also dominated by MSU as the Beavers are 48-15-4 all-time against the eighth-ranked Jimmies and have won 14 in-a-row dating back to a 3-1 loss on Dec. 10, 2021, to Jamestown at the Maysa Arena.
In the teams' meeting last month,
Joey Moffatt,
Walker Jerome, and
Reece Henry each scored for the Beavers who snapped a 1-1 first-period tie and skated to the win. Wallace made 25 saves in that victory.
